the women are being victimized.

It’s obvious that thus far in the book, the women are the victims.  The men are quick to judge and jump to conclusions pertaining to small details, that have nothing to do with witchcraft.  For example, on page 25 Giles Corey bluntly states “..Is she going to fly again? I hear she flies.”  There is clearly no evidence of any woman flying! He is quick to believe the unbelievable because of one tall tale.  Again, Giles Corey implies the practice of witchery on his own wife when he says, “Martha, my wife.  I have waked at night many a time and four her in a corner, readin’ of a book.  Now what do you make of that?” and after Hale tries to answer he continues… “It discomfits me! Last night- mark this-  I tried and tried and could not say my prayers.  And then she close her book and walks out of the house, and suddenly-mark this- I could pray again!” (both on page 40) It’s shown here that Giles Corey wants to be bring drama upon the town!  It was probably his own wandering thoughts that kept him from his prayer. I think it’s unfair for the men to be so gulible in stories that are truley unbelievable about the women, including their own daughters and wives, of Salem.  Clearly, the women are the victims.
